Ovoids of the Hermitian surface in odd characteristic

چکیده
We construct a new ovoid of the polar space arising from the Hermitian surface of PGð3; qÞ with qd 5 odd. The automorphism group G of such an ovoid has a normal cyclic subgroup F of order 12 ðqþ 1Þ such that G=FGPGLð2; qÞ. Furthermore, G has three orbits on the ovoid, one of size qþ 1 and two of size 12 qðq 1Þðqþ 1Þ.

Complete spans and ovoids on Hermitian varieties by Gary
This is a survey of the two talks presented at the Dipartimento di Matematica of the Università della Basilicata in November of 2002. One talk dealt with complete spans (or partial spreads) on Hermitian varieties, and the other talk concerned the construction of ovoids on a Hermitian surface over odd characteristic.
متن کاملA family of ovoids of the Hermitian Surface in PG(3, q) with q ≥ 5 odd
Multiple derivation of the classical ovoid of the Hermitian surface H(3, q) of PG(3, q) is a well known, powerful method for constructing large families of non classical ovoids of H(3, q). In this paper, multiple derivation is generalised and applied to non-classical ovoids. A resulting new family of ovoids is investigated. Mathematics Subject Classification (2000). متن کاملPermutable polarities and a class of ovoids of the Hermitian surface
Using some geometry of quadrics permutable with a Hermitian surface H(3, q2) of PG(3, q2), q odd, a class of ovoids of H(3, q2) admitting the group PGL(2, q) is constructed.
متن کاملOn partial ovoids of Hermitian surfaces
Lower bounds for the size of a complete partial ovoid in a nondegenerate Hermitian surface are obtained. For even characteristic, a sharp bound is obtained and all examples of this size are described. Next, a general construction method for locally hermitian partial ovoids is explained, which leads to interesting small examples. Finally, a conjecture is given for the size of the largest complet...
